KOA uses text message (“SMS”) or phone call communications (the “Services”) as further described in the Types of Communications section below. Your use of the Services constitutes your agreement to these terms and conditions (“SMS Terms”). These SMS Terms are in addition to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Accessibility Statement, and KOA National Cancellation Policy (collectively, the “Terms”), which are incorporated herein by reference. KOA respects your privacy and will never share or sell your mobile number. For details on how we handle your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Modifications
As permitted by applicable law, KOA may modify these SMS Terms at any time and your continued use of the Services following the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of that modification. KOA may modify or cancel the Services or any of their features without notice. We may also change the telephone number or short code we use to operate the Services.
Types of Communications
SMS and phone calls may be sent using an automatic telephone dialing system or other technology. This is the case even if your phone number is registered on any state or federal Do Not Call list. Message frequencies may vary.
We categorize our messages into two types:
1. Transactional Messages
These messages are essential to your reservation and we may send them via SMS or phone call. Examples of Transactions Messages include:
- Booking confirmations
- Pre-arrival details and check-in instructions
- Reservation changes or updates
- Campground-specific alerts (e.g., closures, weather advisories)
2. Optional Marketing/Promotional Messages
If you Opt In (as described below), you have consented to receiving marketing and promotional messages from KOA, such as:
- Special offers or discounts on goods and services
- Seasonal content or trip ideas
- Campground news or featured KOA locations
User Opt-In
1. Transactional Messages
By checking the box below the phone number field in the reservation process, you agree to receive automated text messages from KOA regarding your reservation. Consent is not required to book. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to unsubscribe anytime.
2. Optional Marketing/Promotional Messages
Whenever we provide you with the option of providing KOA with your phone number on our website, KOA will give you the option to consent to receiving Optional Marketing/Promotional Messages from KOA. If you agree to receive Optional Marketing/Promotional Messages from KOA, then you must check the SMS Opt-In box by clicking on the box so that a checkmark appears in the box.
User Opt-Out of SMS
You can opt out of receiving any SMS at any time by replying “STOP”, “QUIT”, “CANCEL”, “OPT-OUT”, and/or “UNSUBSCRIBE” to the respective text messages (“Opt-Out Command”) or by calling 1-800-562-9012. When we receive your Opt-Out Command, we may respond with a confirmatory text message that will confirm receipt of your cancellation request as well as indicate that you will no longer receive SMS from us.
Our mobile messaging service providers may not recognize requests that materially modify the foregoing Opt-Out Commands, and you agree that KOA and our mobile messaging service providers will not be liable for failing to honor requests that do not comply with the Opt-Out Commands. If KOA notified you that the originating telephone number or short code was changed, then you acknowledge that any requests sent to a telephone number or short code that has changed may not be received by us, and we will not be responsible for failing to honor a request sent to a telephone number or short code that has changed.

If you have any questions about an SMS you received from us, you may respond to such SMS with the word “HELP”. For additional assistance, please call 1-800-562-9012.
Miscellaneous
Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. You are solely responsible for any fees or charges incurred to access the Services through an internet service provider or other third party, which may be billed to you by your wireless carrier.
Security of Messages
You acknowledge that anyone with access to your mobile device may be able to view the messages you receive when using the Services and that KOA is not liable to you if this occurs.
Services are “As-Is”
The Services are provided “AS-IS” and may not be available in all areas, at all times, or on all mobile providers. You agree that neither KOA nor our service providers will be liable for any failed, delayed, or misdirected delivery of any mobile message or information sent through the Services.
